Eat healthy to rekindle your sex life.
Sexual
dysfunction--desire, arousal, and orgasm
problems, and painful intercourse--affects 43%
of American women, recent studies show.
One
possible cause: metabolic syndrome, say
researchers at the Second University of Naples
in Italy. Their study of 200 premenopausal women
found 26% lower sexual satisfaction and 23%
lower sexual function in the 120 who had
metabolic syndrome, compared with the 80 who
didn't.
An impaired
cardiovascular system might blunt normal changes
in genital blood supply and lubrication during
sexual stimulation.
Ardor-boosting diet: Calorie controlled
and low in cholesterol, with plenty of fruits,
fiber, and vegetables. Eat more zinc: this
mineral is thought to boost libido in both
sexes. Oysters , long considered an
aphrodisiac, have lots of it, as do other
shellfish, plus whole grains, nuts, seeds and
red meat. And my favorite, Eat
chocolate: oh yes, yes. Dark chocolate
with a high cocoa content contains
phenylalanine, an amino acid that lifts your
mood and helps to boost arousal. Also found in
lean meat, tofu, eggs and seeds.
